A podcast about Eating.
The See Food Diet is a weekly podcast about food in Columbus, Ohio — and beyond. Bob, Kate, and Matt tell you what’s in their mouths and on their minds. It’s the part of the cookout after everyone’s eaten and now you’re talking about eating.
What we are
- +A friendship show, with food as the organizing principle.
- +Three regular people in Columbus, eating real meals and talking about them.
- +Casual, kitchen-table-style. Recorded around an actual table, not in a studio.
- +Loud about what we love — taste tests, food fails, and the place down the street nobody told you about.
- +Honest when something’s bad. Especially when we made it.
- +Fun. That’s the whole bit.
What we aren’t
- −A chef show. None of us are chefs.
- −A restaurant-critic show. We’re not “rating” anything on a scale.
- −“Elevated cuisine.” We will not say “elevated cuisine.”
- −A diet podcast. (The name is a joke. Listen for ten seconds.)
- −An influencer feed. Nobody on this show has a ring light.
- −Precious. We will not be precious about food.
If you see food, eat it.
That’s the show. The rest is just three friends figuring out where to eat next.
First time?
Start here.
If you’ve never heard the show, these three are a representative tasting menu. One Hot Plate, one Taste Test, one Hot Take — pick whichever sounds best, hit play, decide if we’re worth your Friday morning.
Why this oneIf you want to know what we sound like when we love a place. Wing flight in a VFW hall. Pure Hot Plate energy.
Why this oneIf you want to hear us live-react to weird snacks. “It tastes like dust in a bottle.” — Kate. Pure Taste Test.
broccoli to dust
Why this oneIf you want to hear us argue about something nobody asked us to argue about. “There are times when your dinner decisions are just on a death spiral.” — Bob.
Bob, Kate, Matt
Three friends. One kitchen table. A lot of opinions about food, and zero interest in being precious about it.
Bob
Has tasted everything once. Wants to taste it again. Built the show in 2024 because the cookout-after-the-cookout was always the best part. Will pull the car over for a dirty soda.
- Food kryptonite
- Anything pickled
- Columbus go-to
- Qdoba on Fifth
Kate
Knows every pho spot in a 30-mile radius. Will tell you why one is better, and which broth to ask for. Refuses to call anything elevated. Has the meat creepies and talks about it freely.
- Food kryptonite
- Mystery meat
- Columbus go-to
- Buckeye Pho
Matt
Will eat the weird thing first so you don\'t have to. Plays the show\'s grumpy contrarian on purpose because somebody has to. Secretly has the most refined palate of the three; will not admit this on the record.
- Food kryptonite
- Cheese
- Columbus go-to
- Roosters
How the show gets made
In a house in Columbus, on Wednesday nights. Bob produces. Kate keeps a recipe-card binder of episode topics that everyone pretends to ignore but nobody can ignore. Matt brings the contrarian angle. Eating happens. The mics are usually still on.
We use three Movo XLR Cardioid Condenser Mics, and a Zoom PodTrak P4 Podcast Recorder. Episodes are edited over the weekend. We try to keep them between 60 and 90 minutes. We don\'t always succeed.
